Payroll, HR & Finance Outsourcing For Penang Businesses
When Lee Hau Chern (CEO) and Chiam Lee Phing (COO) decided to start Synergy 101 Sdn Bhd in April 2006, they knew that they wanted to help SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) grow.
The idea to start a payroll, HR, accounting and finance outsourcing business came to Lee Phing back in the days when she used to work in multinational corporations as a payroll accountant.
She quickly realised the potential and benefits of outsourcing when her company used an external payroll outsourcing provider for their needs. She instantly saw how much more efficient businesses could be if they had outsourcing especially if these services were extended to smaller companies like SMEs.
If SMEs had assistance for payroll, HR, finance and accounting, they wouldn’t have to worry about setting up HR or finance departments within the company. They could focus all their energies on growing their businesses.
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) says that “small businesses with well-developed finance teams achieve faster, more sustainable growth for longer and can attract investment to help them develop.”

Marathons Are Like Business
Our CEO, Hau Chern says:
“I love endurance sports, especially marathons and ultra-marathons. Completing a race takes discipline, planning and mental resilience. It takes determination to wake up at 4:30am during weekends for training. It is the sheer mental strength that carries us the last kilometre of the race because muscle fatigue, cramps and soreness all work against you. Our planning and execution must be on target to prevent burn out. We need to know our strengths and limitations as endurance athletes.
In fact, science proves that the more we push our physical limits, the more we improve our psychological ones! When others panic, endurance athletes are calm and focused; we are working towards a solution instead of panicking.
Running a business that supports our clients is similar to running a race. The same principles apply when we work with you to support your business operations. Discipline, planning, setting goals and being mentally resilient – all these apply when it comes to working with clients like you.”
